Veteran's Memorial ColiseumThe Veteran's Memorial Coliseum was Corpus Christi's first main event center built in 1954. Some saw the Memorial Coliseum as the Madison Square Garden of its time. The Coliseum got the name Veteran's Memorial because it honored 400 men and women who gave their service in World War II.
The Coliseum was one of a kind. At the time it was built, it had the world longest roof consisting of 224 feet of steel lamella, which was strong and no so expensive. Because of the Coliseum Richard S. Colley, the architect of the Coliseum, is now considered an Architecture genius |
